Using the multilingual solutions from Netwire since the second quarter of 2017, Scania’s Marketing and Communications area experienced a significant increase in the quality of its materials.

Scania product family.

Considered as one of the main truck, bus and (maritime and stationary) diesel engine manufacturer in the world, Scania operates in Europe, Latin America, Asia, Africa and Oceania. It is no wonder that the Swedish multinational company demands a large translation volume: it needs to communicate in different languages to serve with excellence both its domestic and foreign audiences, spread across the world.

One area that understands this need well is the company’s Marketing area, which uses the translation services for several purposes, such as: manuals, catalogues, videos, flyers, reports, etc. The years of experience using this service confirmed that the success of an effective communication is directly connected to hiring a good translation partner.

Successful partnership

After experiencing some problems related to the provision of translation services, the company decided to search for a new partner to meet its needs and, after a fierce testing stage, Netwire was the company that won the homologation. Since May, the company has already delivered more than 50 projects especially to Scania’s Marketing area, among them, translations and subtitling for several languages, such as British English, Latin American Spanish, and Brazilian Portuguese.

According to the professional responsible for the Marketing department, the difference was immediately noticed. “The main benefit observed was the quality of the translations”, he stated. “Another thing I also found extraordinarily positive with our current partner and that no other translation company had done before, was researching about a very specific term from our market, unknown to the general public, which was followed by a recommendation suggesting the best translations into Portuguese and into Spanish for such terminology”, the executive added.

Another point that didn’t go unnoticed to the eyes of the multinational company was how the established deadlines were met. “This has been an extremely positive factor, since, when we need urgent translations, they are met as quickly as possible, always in a polite manner, and the materials are still delivered with the same excellent level of quality”, said the executive.

A pleasant surprise!

Among the activities performed by Netwire, one of them caught Scania’s attention: the creation of a translation memory for the company. It consists of developing databases that store all segments already translated for each client, which may be sentences, paragraphs or even isolated terms. The translation memory is created and updated according to certain criteria, such as a specific language pair and the client’s terminology preferences. In addition to increasing the productivity, since the translations can be reused in new projects, it also leads to lower costs, increased productivity, and terminological and structural consistency among translations.

“Due to all these reasons, I believe our partnership will last”, says the responsible for Scania’s Marketing and Communication area in Latin America. “We are very proud that we argued with the purchase area that Netwire was the best choice and, today, I can say that this is the best translation company I have worked with, in all aspects”, he concludes.

For Netwire, the experience with Scania reinforces the belief that the company has advocated for some time: translation has a direct impact on the company’s business, that’s why it needs to be seen as a strategic service. Therefore, searching for a specialized company in the area requires analyzing different aspects, such as the translation company’s know-how in your market segment, its linguists network, as well as the criteria used to select them, its production capacity in relation to deadlines and diversity of languages, and, finally, the use of technologies that ensure a high safety and quality standard for the clients.

“Today, global brands such as Scania understand this importance and value quality translation. The next step is to make other companies understand that a good translation is a key element for those aiming to stand out in the market and expand their operations confidently and efficiently,” says Aleksander Honma, Netwire’s director.
